❝ too lazy to lie. or be nice. ❞

STRASBOURG ♔ THE POLYGLOT
french order | can comprehend and speak all forms of communication (lingual, coded or otherwise)

The eldest son of an influential pair of high-brow philanthropists from Toulouse, Yves Simon was poised to inherit the family fortune (as well as the responsibilities that came with it; a network of vineyards and associated vinters that made up the Simon wine legacy). Resentful of his parents' obsession with appearances and their helping others while their own domestic lives slid slowly down the hole, Yves left home at a young age in order to combat that neglect, taking his younger brother René with him to Paris. Yves, born naturally bright but without any real ambition towards anything beyond the bare necessities in life (those necessities being good wine, cigarettes, and his baby brother), took the money eventually sent from Toulouse and used it to put both himself and his brother through school. Dispassionate about most things (he flunked most of his classes for a lack of trying), he discovered his natural aptitude towards languages and by the age of twenty had mastered seven languages to functional fluency, which won him the attention of the diplomatic offices of the French government who kept an eye out for translators.

Now called Strasbourg, he works as both the liaison between the French and German Orders as well as the go-to translator for international discussions, summits and events. His ability allows him to both understand and be understood in any form of communication — whether it be a spoken language (either alive or dead, such as Aramaic or Latin), coded (such as binary) or unspoken (such as sign language or pantomine). Due to his ability to read encryptions, he is often sourced out as a resource to the various communications/media/technology outfits of the French government, though his complete lack of bedside manner makes him difficult to work with most of the time. Quiet more often that not, when Strasbourg does speak for himself, he very rarely has anything productive or helpful or nice to say. Too generally apathetic to be considered outwardly antagonistic, his pitches in one of two directions: either wholly loyal (to the point of obsession) or otherwise cannot be bothered at all. Very few things manage to upset Strasbourg or get under his skin, but things that do, do so to the extreme: upsetting his baby brother, the condescension of the rich, and (oddly enough) French Canadians and their français québécois.
